Shades of Winter: living in grayscale

So, this is what 2pm looks like here on MDI. I'd like to say that this picture of Eagle Lake is a black and white photograph, but it's full color. It's a typical 2pm and the shadows are really long. This time of year is when I feast small pockets of color like this bit of Bar Island moss. The short days and the gray skies make some colors, like this light green, burst. Local painter Katie Churchill has a lovely painting called Winter Apples: she captures the stark red of the apples, high in a tree, covered in snow with a blue sky.
